The BYD SEALION 5 DM-i is powered by BYD’s advanced Super Hybrid DM technology. DM stands for Dual Mode, meaning the system can operate both as a hybrid – combining electric and petrol power – and as a fully electric vehicle, offering up to 53 miles of pure electric driving supported by its Blade Battery technology.
Intelligent system management – represented by the “i” in DM-i – optimises efficiency during hybrid operation, delivering fuel economy of up to 470 mpg (WLTP). With a fully charged battery and a full tank of petrol, the SEALION 5 DM-i offers a combined driving range of up to 631 miles, providing impressive flexibility for everyday journeys and longer trips alike.

The BYD SEALION 5 DM-i is equipped with a comprehensive range of advanced driver assistance systems. These include Adaptive Cruise Control and Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Intelligent Speed Limit Control, Lane Departure Warning, and both Forward and Rear Collision Warning.
Additional safety features such as Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Prevention, Automatic Emergency Braking and Hill Hold Control provide further confidence on every journey. Occupant protection is supported by seven airbags — including driver, front passenger, front centre, front side and curtain airbags — along with ISOFIX and i-Size mounting points on the outer rear seats and front passenger seat, a mechanical child safety lock, and an automatic door locking system.
